This rare stone is called Sonora or Sonoran Sunrise/Sunset because it is found in the Sonoran Desert of Mexico. The green part is Chrysocolla, while the mostly red part is Cuprite. This particular stunning stone was cut and polished by a friend of mine. This cabochon is definitely a collectors gem grade stone, due to the beauty and quality of the material and the cut and polish. I chose to weave it into a sterling silver pendant. The back of this cabochon is entirely framed in by the weave, making this pendant sturdy and meant to be worn as often as you like. Your pendant has been sealed with a professional grade jewelry sealer to help protect the patina of the wire. It measures 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches, including the bail, and comes with an 18 inch sterling silver chain and velvet gift/storage bag.
Read about the sealer I use on my blog, Wire Rapper.
